EXPERT DIY TIPS
Social Media Takeover #Muppets Style

What do you do when the last time your movie was on the big screen was 12 years ago? You get your social media game on muppets style.

Lets start with 70,472 twitter followers reading and retweeting Statler & Waldorf comments like:

Boo! Booo! It was terrible! Take it away! We’re practicing for The #Muppets release next week. Booo!

Yes who better to run their mouth 140 characters at a time then the two ornery, disagreeable old men who first appeared in the television series The Muppet Show heckling the rest of the cast from their balcony seats.

The twitter feed leads you to The Muppets Youtube channel with 3,554,238 youtube views. Here you can catch everything Muppets from Bohemian Rhapsody sung by all the muppets to a multitude of trailer parodies promoting the movie.

One interesting youtube video was The Muppets Google+ Hangouts which was basically a taping of the live Hangout on Nov 8 on Google+ business pages (the same day google + was open to business pages … ) Their was 256 shares to 500 comments that ranged from total excitement by fans to creepiness of the idea of Hangingout online … with the muppets.

But the true all out social media push is on Facebook where the muppets page has 1,116,455 Facebook likes along with Miss Piggy having her own Facebook page and Kermit, Gonzo, Animal, Fozzie + more. Not only are they not kidding with each individual muppet profile, posting daily comments and FB only videos, they actual comment on each others Facebook profile. All of the Muppet Facebook pages have a Mahna-Mahna campaign where the viewer can record themselves and upload on Facebook their own Mahna-Mahna impression… You have to see Mrs Piggy do it to understand what Mahna-Mahna is.

And just incase you are Muppet-out, Facebook also has the FAN-A-THON that allows you to LIKE anyone of the muppets Pages, Images or Video by shuffling thru them quickly via the Facebook page animated interface and LIKE everything you want…. So what is the movie about? To tell you the truth I don’t know but with so much Muppet nostalgia making me smile I would go see it =) Jim Henson would be proud.
