Not Enough Time in Your Day?

Are you always feeling like there is so much to do and not enough time to do it? Some blame it on “getting older”, others on the “speed of technology” and some believe “time is speeding up”. No matter what the answer is, how do you deal?

Time. Lets start with the “concept” of time. First use of time was based on the stars and sun from the Hindus to the Mayans. Next came came water clocks, incense clocks, candle clocks and hour glasses. Then the pendulum clock that uses the swing of left to right but today we have the quartz clock which is literally “squeezing” a quartz to vibrate 32,768 times a second.

Accuracy has really been the aim in all the inventions to measure time. They really were trying to find something that was “consistent” to be able to reference an idea of 24hrs, 60mins and 60 sec from. It wasn’t till the mid 1800s that the use of clocks ACTUALLY became popular thanks to 25 delegates from around the world that got together to not only agree on “what time it is” but also what time it is at different places around the world calling them time zones. This global agreement impacted not only our idea of “what time it is” but it also allowed for train schedules, bus schedules, stock market comparisons, productivity because remember … “time is money.”

So in todays land of productivity, how do you beat “time”? First believe that it only exist for the sake of making money. It doesn’t reflect your abilities, your age or your relevance. Once you let go of that you can then utilize time to your benefit. The following are great apps that allow you to take time by the horns and ride it!

Dragon DictationIf you love multitasking, imaging dictating your emails/text messages and getting them transcribes as you do your nails…brilliant!

No matter how you want to tackle time, remember it truly does not exist as an undeniable hour, minute, sec. Take for example living in Iceland. From October through April, winter night is all the time and then the period of May through August, they have long days with bright nights including a midnight sun in June! I can only imaging how productive or not productive life might be with 1 lonnnng night and 1 lonnnnggg day.
