EXPERT DIY TIPS How to Finally Start Up Your Startup in 2012

You’ve dreamed, you’ve envision, you’ve gone 3/4 thru your business plan but your startup is still not up. With 2012 around the corner, for many people the feeling of “now or never” is creeping up. So what do you do to finally get things going no matter if you are selling a service or product?

Network. First thing on your list of to do’s for 2012 should be finding out every Meetup or local Chamber of Commerce meeting. It really pays to meet and network with individuals doing the same thing as you. You can also network with your customers by going to places that your customers might be at. For example if your starting for example a new doggy clothing line, the best place to network would be those doggy-only sections of parks.

Paypal. As the name says, it’s the pal that will pay you. Paypal is the simplest merchant account any startup can get. With only a 3% taking out of each payment submitted to you, it beats paying $20 to $40 a month for a merchant account plus the actual credit card fees. The best part is that if you are selling a product or a service it works for both along with your customers being able to use their own credit card…much better then waiting for the check in the mail.

Get Online. Now more then ever you can directly sell and market to your customer without leaving your coach. carts. Etsy is not only also easy to set up but it already is a highly trafficked online marketplace. With so many social networks from Facebook to Google + there is no need to spend millions on posters hung in transportation hubs, all you do is post, blog, tweet about your product/service … consistently.

ichat. Yes chat online. If you thought your talents were pointless if you did not have a space to teach them think again. Ichat or even Google Hangouts allow for you to interact with your viewer directly via live video. This is great if your teaching piano or singing lessons to life coaching and ballerina lessons.

Do what you love. I’m telling you, if you don’t LOVE it then you won’t want to do IT. Starting a startup is like being a toddler all over again. You have to learn how to walk so you’ll fall ALOT. You learn what to do and not what to do like when the cat bit you when you pull its tale. The LOVE of it will keep you going thru the good and the bad, the money won’t.

Just Start. Don’t let anything get in your way, even the fear of failing. Failure is ALWAYS a blessing in disguise. (A very good disguise too sometimes) But if you ask any successful entrepreneur if they ever failed you will see most very successful people failed at one or more ventures in the past and they will admit to having these failures directly influence their current success!
